This is not an authoritarian dictatorship or a police state. The admins/hosts of JP's Empire are no big fans of censorship or telling others to behave. We are all adults here, and hope everyone will act accordingly. With all of our moral fiber, we will refuse to edit, censor or otherwise tell people how to behave unless it is said person's driven intent to disrupt the community or infringe on others. The USER CONDUCT listed below was created by EzBoard itself, not the Admins of JP's Empire. As these are EzBoard's rules, JP's Empire has to obey them (or else!)... ergo, we pass these same rules on to our forum members, and remember - these rules come from the top (beyond our reach), and we think they are a good set of rules and need no further assistance from our part! Without further delay... here are JP's Empire's USER CONDUCT guidelines.

Posts: 364 (01/28/03 16:34:46) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	USER CONDUCT (from EzBoard) You agree to not use the Service (JP's Empire) to: (a) violate or solicit the violation of any applicable local, state, national or international law; (b) infringe the rights of any third party, including but not limited to intellectual property rights and privacy or publicity rights (c) upload, post, email or otherwise transmit any Content that ---(1) is unlawful, threatening, abusive, tortious, defamatory, obscene, libelous, or invasive of another's privacy; ---(2) consists of instructional information on illegal activities, including, but not limited to, hacking, cracking, and phreaking; ---(3) violates or infringes in any way upon the proprietary rights of others, including, without limitation, copyrighted software, music, photographs, text, videos or artwork; ---(4) constitutes pornography, or sexual material of an obscene nature or that violates local, state or national laws; ---(5) is the private information of another such as their addresses, phone number, Social Security number or credit card number; ---(6) contains software viruses, Trojan horses or any other computer code, files or programs designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of any computer software or hardware or telecommunications equipment; or ---(7) you do not have a right to upload or post due to contractual or other legal obligation. (d) impersonate any person or entity, including, but not limited to, an ezboard official, forum leader, guide or host, or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity; (e) forge headers or otherwise manipulate identifiers in order to disguise the origin of any Content transmitted through the Service; (f) interfere with or disrupt the Service, computer servers or boards accessible through the Service; (g) disseminate off-topic messages on boards promoting any product, service, web site, board or venture, or promote boards on the Service through unsolicited electronic mail messages to third parties. If you do use the Service to commit any of the above, ezboard may, at its sole discretion terminate your password, account (or any part of it) or ability to use the Service, and remove and discard any Content within the Service.

If you persist, you will be banned. Signatures Kindly keep your signatures *small* to conserve bandwidth.

Some people define spam even more generally as any unsolicited e-mail. However, if a long-lost brother finds your e-mail address and sends you a message, this could hardly be called spam, even though it's unsolicited. Real spam is generally e-mail advertising for some product sent to a mailing list, newsgroup or posted on a forum. In addition to wasting people's time with unwanted e-mail, spam also eats up a lot of network bandwidth. Consequently, there are many organizations, as well as individuals, who have taken it upon themselves to fight spam with a variety of techniques. But because the Internet is public, there is really little that can be done to prevent spam, just as it is impossible to prevent junk mail. However, some online services have instituted policies to prevent spammers from spamming their subscribers. There is some debate about the source of the term, but the generally accepted version is that it comes from the Monty Python song, "Spam spam spam spam, spam spam spam spam, lovely spam, wonderful spam" Like the song, spam is an endless repetition of worthless text. Another school of thought maintains that it comes from the computer group lab at the University of Southern California who gave it the name because it has many of the same characteristics as the lunchmeat Spam: --- Nobody wants it or ever asks for it; --- No one ever eats it; --- it is the first item to be pushed to the side when eating the entree. --- Sometimes it is actually tasty, like 1% of junk mail that is really useful to some people.
